The Majestic Ironbank Building Architecture by RTA Studio
RTA Studio Ironbank has created a magnificent building, located in the historic area at the edge of Auckland (New Zealand) CBD. The front of the high street addresses sites that are dominated by a rich mixture of Victorian and Edwardian buildings. Building was conceived as a manifestation of cross-contamination from road conditions contrasts the two. High road related notion of presentation, appearance, etiquette and heritage, while service lines related to the provision, delivery, and utility disturbances. Buildings that have taken the opportunity to address the transition between the two conditions of the road.
This building presents a glass reinforced concrete (GRC) façade as a ‘veil’ to curb high filtration interior sites. This screen has been conceived as an abstraction from the adjacent historic facade. In a gesture to the historical environment of fine scales, we have tried to fragment the form of buildings to reduce the potential of mass associated with the middle office building. Therefore, the five towers subsequently fragmented to articulate the composition vertically stacked office and retail space are collected into a sustainable community social work.
